Dear Scrappers,

I hope that you are beating the heat and staying cool in the comfort of your personal scrap space as you work on your projects.  Is there a better time to catch up on those wintery snow & chill pages and even Christmas. I keep paper and embellishments for you to use with them on the shelves all year.  Just the thoughts might have a cooling effect.  If you don’t have a cool place to work you may come to the store and crop free any time you wish during open hours.  And remember Friday night “Crop Nights” on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Fridays of each month.  We always have a fun time as we crop and share.

It is good to be home after driving 3141 miles through 6 different states (several twice and one 3 times) in 19 days.  I did enjoy visiting with my three sons, their families and old friends.  With graduations, parties, a new great grandson, and three great granddaughters that I had not met before, I had many photo ops and now have a large selection of pictures to scrap. Thanks to Ken for keeping the store going while I was traveling.

Here is “Hot off the Press” trend watch news.  The subdued, aged, distressed, depression era grandma’s apron/wallpaper look (that I happen to like) is still around. There are also a few dot patterns hanging in along with retro and peace signs.  But, the word is “Summer 2011 CHA” will be showing bright and stripes in a lot of new collections.  I can’t wait to see them.  We can always tone down and age with inks.  Another BIG trend is mini, mini, mini. Companies are thinking that if we like something we will like the mini version also. Several paper only companies are teaming with stamp companies to create coordinating stamps and the stitching on paper craze is growing with the addition of larger heads and more patterns for the Sew EasyTM  STITCH PIERCER by We R Memory Keepers. More on all of that later.

I am getting ready for Kids Kamp in July.  This year Kamp will be three days, Tues. July 26, Wed. July 27 and Thurs. July 28.  from 10:00AM to 1:00PM each day. There will be a short snack break around 11:30 each day.  Our Theme for 2011 Kids Kamp will be “Passport to Art Around the World”.  I will send letters with complete information to parents of previous attendees that I have addresses for.  If you have an interested child please contact me for details.  I NEED to know that there will be at least 7 children attending by Wednesday July 13th.  I have places for a maximum of 14 so you may be able to enroll your child after the 13th if all places are not filled.  If I do not have 7 by the 13th Kamp will be cancelled.

I am also planning classes for late summer and fall.  Stop by the store and fill out a questionnaire about your interests and availability to receive a special gift.
